This one is a little better than the 320i, I think.

BMW 228i with M-Sport line: $40,650.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

This is still by far my favorite BMW on sale right now. I really wish they sold the 220i state-side. I feel like that would be the perfect amount of power for this car, and it would be the cheapest BMW sold here most likely.

10/10 would hoon.

Sadly misfitting for taller people, however (6'4" and up).

2 years worth of depreciation hit will get this down below a base Camry. Then automax gets one, so you can still have a warranty...

Except for the fact that it'll be hard to find one with the manual transmission. I think I could live with the auto though, it's a great gearbox.

You're mistaken! I'm 6'6" and I test drove the M235i three weeks ago. Fit perfectly!!! I also owned a 135i for a year and fit well in that as well. And I have equally sized torso and legs.

Hello, gorgeous.

I spent the afternoon with an M235i a few weeks ago and the electronic steering and few inches of dead pedal really through me off. I've sampled the 2.0l turbo in a BMW X1 that I loaned for a weekend trip and I can now conclude that I would opt for the 228i instead of the M235i. Lovely thing.

So do I (equal torso and legs) and I also have no issues in the E82, but the seat would just not go far enough down in the M235i I spent time in.

I'm going to need to try it again, but I played around with it a ton and I felt like I had to slouch for my eyeline not to be way up toward the top of the windshield... Maybe I just needed to recline it more than I'm used to/like.

From what I've read, the 2.0T is an absolute peach of an engine.

I hooned a 328i a bit...the N20 is easily the best thing about the car. I see no point in going for the N55, as the 335i barely felt quicker.

I got to hoon a 320 with the Sport pack. OMG. I was amazed at how fun the little car was!

Yeah you probably didn't recline it enough, which if that's not comfortable for you, then indeed the M235i is too small. The best car for tall people, from experience, is the Volkswagen Golf. I owned a 2007 GTI 3 door for 3 years and had miles of leg and headroom. Too much almost, if that can be a thing.

Currently I drive a 911 and I've had to take it to an upholstery shop to take stuff out of the driver's seat. Driving that thing is no cake walk. Especially with my legs getting caught underneath the steering wheel when I clutch out.

In about 4 or so years used, yes. I wish I could afford one right now.

135i's haven't dropped as much as I had thought, so perhaps these wont either. Something to keep in mind. Because if in 4 years you're looking at a warranty-less 25k 228i, it may have been better to finance now at a lower rate with warranty. Think of all the fun you can have.

Then again, don't listen to me, I give myself the worst car advice. Currently considering filling the garage with an array of cars including the Maserati GranSport, 1997 Mercedes E55 Wagon W210, and Range Rover G4 Challenge. And that's while already owning the seriously unreliable Porsche 996 (GT3 Aerokit Cup) with insane mileage.

CarMax man, get that warranty!

If I had a steady income, house of my own, and wasn't 16, I'd find some way of shuffling around things to afford one right now, but that isn't going to happen.

That's interesting about the 911, I have tons of head room in a 997 and 991, what gen is yours? I have the seat a bit more reclined in my 335is, but it's still much more pleasant than I experienced initially in the M235i.... but that was static, if I drove it and played around with the seating I bet I could find a good position (like yourself, I'm used to adapting to the car). I've thought about a GTI multiple times, my thing has always been I so deeply prefer a wagon over a hatch for practical reasons, and it's really nice to be able to throw a bike or whatever inside if need be. I'm definitely planning to check it out as my daily replacement though.... If I can resist an E91, but god do I love those things and sadly the new F3X wagon is both depressing and so tragically auto and all wheel only.

To your response below, I could not agree more on the steering, it drives me up the wall (the fact that there is no change in sensation when you are clearly losing grip is disconcerting to put it mildly, when it was raining hard and I was at freeway speeds I had no idea what was happening with the front end other than intuition). The X1 is great as the last of the hydraulic racks (I think it's actually the only hydraulic rack N20 ever produced). I was put off at first by the N20 in a nearer to F30 launch 328i, but they seemed to have really worked out the kinks. I'm an N54 guy and if I'm going I6 turbo I'll take that every day over the N55. If I want daily usability I'd take the N20.... though I am a sucker for the N52.

You have the N54 in your 335is, which means you're a lucky lucky man. Which colour and spec? Do you have the 19s on there? I once had a Le Mans blue 335is Convertible for the weekend and I met up with my ex's dad who had a red 335is Coupe for a photoshoot. Those were the days. Middle of 2011. Such a fun, exciting car. I'm a sucker for "final series" of models.

Interesting to hear about your experience with electronic steering in the rain. Perhaps its worth doing an OPPO post on that in a bit more detail. Equally interesting that you're not a fan of the F31. Is it because the xDrive, which surely can't be a deal breaker, or is it because the disappointing F3x interior? The automagic box is OK, just OK, but suits the car. I think it looks great in Msport trim. I drove the CLS Shooting Break in Europe and aside from a claustrophobically high belt line, it was a nice (read: expensive) alternative to the typical estates. Although if it was my money, I'd get a 5 Series Touring every.damn.day.of.the.week.

You do get quite a bit of headroom in Porsches. More so then in Lamborghinis or Maseratis. Not too familiar with Ferrari products. I assume its just as bad. But 6'6" is really pushing the sportscar limit, unless you opt for fixed to the floor two-piece bucket seats a la GT3 RS.

If you like bikes in wagons, you should check out Chris Harris' Twitter feed. He bought a beautiful TDF blue Ferrari FF and constantly posts pics of it filled to the brim with stuff, mainly bikes.
